Verse Of The Day: Show me your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Psalms 25 : 4
LISTEN: Why God decided to show us his ways is so that we will not live outside his will and purpose. To live outside God’s purpose is to live without a real purpose. We cannot truly live until we have lived in line with God’s will. God is the reason for our existence. Hence, to live without fulfilling His purpose is to live in vain. Beloved, the secrets of life are hidden in God. Unless you surrender to Him, He cannot reveal certain things to you. God cannot reveal Himself to you if you do not want to get close to Him. He will not show you His way if you are not willing to surrender yourself completely to Him. My dear, God wants to both show you his ways and teach you his will. But you must hunger for it.
Beloved, God cannot teach you His ways if you are not ready to obey His voice. Until you are willing to follow his ways, he will be unwilling to reveal his will to you. His way is the way of holiness, purity, righteousness, peace, love, mercy, kindness, goodness, etc. However, when His goodness, mercy, love, etc. are taken for granted, his wrath and judgment will certainly be attracted. The Psalmist in our verse of the day said, ” Show me your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths.” (Psalms 25 : 4). He, (the Psalmist) prayed that God should give him insight into his ways, and to cause him to continue in faithful obedience to him; notwithstanding all temptations and distractions of life.
This kind should be the prayer of our hearts. (Psalms 86 : 11 ; 119 : 27). He prayed not to be allowed to his own blind and vain mind, or corrupt affections, neither give him up to evil spirit, but conduct him in all His ways. He prayed to be led in the paths of righteousness and not of sin or mischief, that he may not stumble nor fall. Beloved, the Psalmist’s prayer should be our kind of prayer, full of passion and hunger for God; that the Lord should teach us His ways and lead us through the paths of righteousness. May we desire to know the ways of God and be taught his precepts, in Jesus’ name.
