Verse Of The Day: You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29 : 13
LISTEN: God is far from those who cannot search for him with the whole of their hearts. God cannot have anything serious to do with hypocrites and unserious-minded people. He is a God of truth and righteousness. He is a God that is committed to his word and purpose. He or she who is committed to knowing him cannot be empty of his presence. He is close to those who chose to be close to him, and very far from those who chose to distant themselves from him. (James 4 : 8). God is looking for people who are faithful and committed to him. He accepts and gives access to those who sincerely look for him. Anyone who is habitually unreliable cannot be accepted by him. That is because, a hypocrite or, an unserious-minded person cannot commit to his or her own cause, let alone God’s. Until you are readily willing to seek God with your whole heart you cannot find him for yourself.
Beloved, just as you cannot get the best out of what you do or pursue when your heart is not in it, so also you cannot find God if your heart is not made up to search for him sincerely and passionately. This is why many people are finding it difficult to discover God. They do not believe that any human can approach him. But is God really far from us? Of course not! Do you know that God is not far from those who search for Him with the whole of their hearts? My dear, God is closer than you think if you are willing to search for him with all your heart. When we are confronted with troubles and challenges of life, we tend to conclude that God is far from us; but when we search for him faithfully and pray desperately we will soon discover that he is closer than we think.
Jacob was in distress and got depressed and afraid when Esau his brother vowed to kill him. As he escaped for his dear life, he never knew that God was with him in his time of distress. He was completely depressed and devastated. Suddenly, God showed up in the dream of the night and promised him of His presence and protection; as a result, when he awoke from his sleep he (Jacob) exclaimed, ” Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not!” (Genesis 28 : 16). Like Jacob, most of us feel the absence of God around us because we are not conscious of Him. We have not searched for Him with the whole of our hearts, therefore cannot find Him. Beloved, do you know that God searches every heart and knows those who are serious about knowing Him? If we must find him, he must be sought with great effort and sincerity.
