Verse Of The Day: As long as an heir is a child, he is no better off than a slave, even though he owns everything. Galatians 4 : 1
LISTEN: It is expected of every believer in Christ to take up responsibility to gain spiritual maturity and wisdom to know what he or she ought to do to possess his or her God-given possessions. God has blessed us with all manners of spiritual blessings through Christ, but we need to be matured in our minds to be able to understand what God has done for us through his Son Jesus Christ. No doubt, believers in Christ are privileged for being children of God, but until they grow up in their spiritual understanding, moral principles and obedience to him, they are likely to wallow in miserable and pitiable conditions. Our verse of the day is an encouraging word for us, and to challenge us to action; and it says, ”As long as an heir is a child, he is no better off than a slave, even though he owns everything.” (Galatians 4 : 1). Not everyone who owns everything can enjoy everything.
Beloved, do you know that you will hinder yourself from experiencing God’s blessings and favour if you choose to remain spiritually immature? Like children who would always do what their parents warned them against, and be denied of their rights and privileges by their parents for their rebellion and disobedience as measure to teach them morals and discipline; so also, when you willfully disobey God, you will limit yourself. Like the heir (one who inherits or is entitled to inherit property), would forfeit his inheritance for refusing to mature in all aspects of life, you will not possess your God-given possessions. Disobedience to God will keep you from your God-given possessions and blessings. When the Israelites abandoned their God in favour of pagan gods, God also abandoned them and caused them to be carried away to Babylon as captives. They forfeited their good land, the land of Canaan, and served as slaves in a strange land for several years, because they chose not to grow up morally and spiritually.
However, when they repented of their rebellion, God reassured them of his deliverance and prosperity. Beloved, are you prepared to possess your God-given possessions? Are you ready to live in the realm God originally made for you? Then learn to maintain a good and sustained relationship with God and determine to be matured in your mind.
