Verse Of The Day: There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. John 1 : 6 , 7
LISTEN: Spreading the news of Jesus Christ’ death and resurrection is necessary for the salvation of mankind. No one will accept Jesus if he or she is not told of the reasons for his death and resurrection which represents the forgiveness of our sins and righteousness by faith in him. This means that we (Christians) are witnesses of Christ. As witnesses, we should not be dormant, but active witnesses. If Christ’ plea to mankind must be heard, we must be the voice with which he pleads. We all are the ‘voices’ of Jesus Christ designed to testify of his love to mankind. Before Jesus Christ was born, God sent John ahead of him to announce his arrival. The bible says, “There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.”(John 1 : 6 , 7). God’s purpose of sending John was for him to witness to Christ, and to prepare people’s heart to accept him as the Saviour of the world.
God sent John with this message to the people: “… Behold, I send my messenger before your face, which shall prepare your way before you. The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare all of you the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.(Mark 1 : 2 , 3). John came with a message of repentance to the people of Israel to prepare them for the arrival of Jesus Christ. Beloved, are you a true witness of Christ? Are you telling others about the love of God demonstrated in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ? Beloved, like John, God is sending us to the people of the world to tell them about Jesus Christ the authentic Saviour of mankind. Therefore, as an active witness of Christ, your voice should be heard in your family, church, marketplace, workplace, neighbourhood, community, school, etc. May you not neglect this rewarding assignment, in Jesus’ name, amen.
