Verse Of The Day: Then Joshua said to the children of Israel, Why are you so slow to go in and take up your heritage in the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you? Joshua 18 : 3

LISTEN: Time and life are too precious and short to be wasted. God delivered the Israelites from their bondage in Egypt to go and serve him and to possess their possessions – the land of Canaan? The Bible says in Exodus 3 : 8, ” And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows. And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.” Furthermore, the bible says, ” And the LORD spoke unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus says the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.” (Exodus 8 : 1). God made a covenant with Abraham, assuring him that he will bless him and make him a blessing; and his descendants will multiply to become a nation. Besides, he promised Abraham that his descendants will possess the beautiful land of Canaan.

So when he struck the land of Egypt with plagues, he did it to set his people (the Israelites) free, and to bring them to their land of covenant. Unfortunately, they were very slow to possess the land of Canaan even when God expected them to take the necessary actions to take over the land. In expressing displeasure over their reluctance to possess the land the bible says, ” Then Joshua said to the children of Israel, why are you so slow to go in and take up your heritage in the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you?” (Joshua 18 : 3). Sadly, a lot of people make the same mistakes today. They slack and procrastinate in taking necessary actions to better their lives; as a result, they linger endlessly in fulfilling their God-given purpose.

Beloved, do you know that it is your responsibility to possess what God has already given to you? A man once said, “God cannot give to you in miracle, what he has given to you in principle. Why did Joshua questioned the slackness of the Israelites to possess the land of Canaan? Was it not because, it was not God’s responsibility to do for them what they can do for themselves? God had promised them his presence, protection and deliverance from their enemies; however, if they choose not to move on to possess the land because of fear and intimidation, it will be their own fault. Most of us are like the Israelites who expect God to do everything for them. Even the ones they can do as humans they keep waiting for him to do. Beloved, are there things God is prompting you to do? Do not continue to say that it is not yet time; begin today. Remember, time waits for no one. Therefore, stop being slack, rather act now.
