Verse Of The Day: Joseph said to his brothers, “Come closer to me,” so they came near. Then he said, “I am Joseph your brother, whom you sold into Egypt. Now, do not be upset and do not be angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me ahead of you to preserve life! For these past two years there has been famine in the land and for five more years there will be neither plowing nor harvesting. God sent me ahead of you to preserve you on the earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance. Genesis 45 : 4 – 7

LISTEN: If you are a child of God who is spiritually sensitive, you will certainly see God’s purpose in all situations around you. You may suffer evil, ill treatment, marginalisation, betrayal, blackmail, etc. from people, and even from your trusted friends and loved ones; yet, those situations could be pointing to your better future which your enemies are afraid of. But the good news is that no one can stop God’s plans for your life if you learn to be patient, strong and courageously go through your situations with faith in God. The day you will stop accusing everybody for your misfortune, you will begin to see God in action. Seeing God’s purpose even in ugly situations can help you stay calm and realise his purpose for your life. No matter how bad a situation is, God has programed a blessing for his children at the end of it all. Genuine children of God cannot be destroyed by circumstances of life, but rather refined by same.

In our verse of the day, Joseph, in spite of betrayal from his brothers, and his years of slavery in Egypt was promoted beyond his wildest imaginations. God used the ugly situations around him – hate and betrayal from his brothers, and accusation from Potiphar’s promiscuous wife to bring him to an enviable position in Egypt. In all his ordeals, Joseph saw God’s hand behind it. That was why he could resist Potiphar’s wife even when he knew that accepting that offer could ease his burden. To demonstrate that he believed that God worked through his ugly situations, he said to his brothers, “…Come closer to me,” so they came near.” Then he said, “I am Joseph your brother, whom you sold into Egypt. Now, do not be upset and do not be angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me ahead of you to preserve life! For these past two years there has been famine in the land and for five more years there will be neither plowing nor harvesting. God sent me ahead of you to preserve you on the earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.(Genesis 45 : 4 – 7). Beloved, like Joseph, can you see God in your ugly situations and respond to them like him? No matter the situation, look deep and you will see God’s plan in it all.
