Verse Of The Day: Know all of you not that they which run in a race run all, but one receives the prize? So run, that all of you may obtain. 1 Corinthians 9 : 24
LISTEN: God does not just use people, he also reward them. He never forget to reward those who come to him by faith and diligently seek him.(Hebrews 11 : 6). This does not mean that we should serve God just for reward, but should know that he uses reward to teach his people that he could be trusted; and that a labourer is worthy of his wages. Bearing that in mind, it will motivate us to serve him because he is God, and not just for reward. Beloved, it is a thing of joy to know that your labour is not in vain. Every effort you invest in the Lord’s serve will surely be rewarded. The bible says, ” For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love you have demonstrated for his name, in having served and continuing to serve the saints.”(Hebrews 6 : 10). God knows our labour and pretense, zeal and lukewarmness, love and hate, etc., towards his name, hence will reward us accordingly.
To be eternally rewarded, you must fix your mind on God. As you fix your mind on him, you should as well fix your eyes on his eternal reward. Reward motivates service and affects performance. Besides, anyone who must be rewarded for his or her efforts in the Lord’s service must learn to be serious – minded, disciplined, committed and focused. Enviable prizes are not made for unserious – minded people, but for the dedicated, focused and committed. Our verse of the day says, ” Know all of you not that they which run in a race run all, but one receives the prize? So run, that all of you may obtain. (1 Corinthians 9 : 24) In speaking about eternal reward (prize), Apostle Paul illustrated with the game of race, establishing that all can run but the prize is not for all. But why should all compete in a race and the prize is not won by all? It is because, winners are not made on the day of competition, but before the day. Before the day of competition are days of preparation, and preparation demands discipline. To fail to plan is to plan to fail. In the same way, this world is a preparation ground for our eternal rewards. If we fail to plan by consciously doing the Lord’s service, we will certainly lose our rewards. God forbid!
