And the child kept growing and becoming strong in spirit, and he was in the wilderness until the day he was revealed to Israel. Luke 1 : 80
LISTEN: Preparation is a vital key to success. Getting ready for the future is a better way to face the future. We do not need to see the future before preparing for it, rather preparation must be made to experience a blissful future. All things being equal, it is certain that you will face the reality of the future someday. God has appointed a time for everything and everyone. He knows the time of everyone of us and what we shall be. However, if you are not prepared for what you are created to do or become, you will miss your blessings. Beloved, a great future requires a great preparation. He who neglects the act of preparation will certainly forfeit the blessings that would have been his. Whatever you are created for, you need preparation to become. When John the Baptist was born, he was born for a purpose. He was born to prepare the way for Jesus Christ. He came to announce his arrival ahead of time. He preached to the people about the kingdom of God and urged them to repent of their sins, which would also be the message of Christ when he finally arrives. (Matthew 3 : 1 – 3 ; 4 : 17).
However, he cannot perform this noble and great task as a child. He needs to grow up and prepare very well to be able to handle the task, which was the reason for his birth. The bible says, “And the child kept growing and becoming strong in spirit, and he was in the wilderness until the day he was revealed to Israel.” (Luke 1 : 80). Here the bible speaks of his (John) stages of preparation. 1). He kept growing: success is not possible where growth and maturity are absent. Some people had long ceased to grow in some areas of their lives. Growth should be a journey in our lives and not a destination. One should keep growing till death. 2). He became stronger: John did not only increased in size and shape, but also increased in spiritual strength. Strength is a sign of maturity. Strength will attract influence and attention. 3). He separated himself from distractions: the bible says, ” and he was in the wilderness until the day he was revealed to Israel.” (Luke 1 : 80). Before God announced him to the people later in his life, he consciously avoided distraction to his purpose. He was in the wilderness, a private place. So, to fulfill your God-given purpose here on earth, you must equally prepare ahead of your task. God bless.
