Verse Of The Day: Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. Romans 8 : 8

LISTEN: Could there be a time when I cannot please God? Is it possible to live outside the will of God after walking with Him? But at what point will it be impossible to please God? The Bible gives a clear answer to it and says’ ” Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.” (Romans 8 : 8). God is a Spirit and those who worship God must worship Him in spirit and in truth. (John 4 : 24). Because the flesh – our sinful nature and inordinate desires are always opposed to the will of God for us; as a result cannot submit to God. Obviously, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. Beloved, who are those in the flesh? They are unrenewed sinners; people who follows supremely the desires of the flesh; those who follow fleshly appetites and desires, and who are not led by the Spirit of God. People who are interested in living outside the will of God. The flesh subjects us to the rule of Satan and makes us comfortable with sin. This is why we cannot please God if we choose to please our flesh.

As we come to God, we should surrender our lives to Him. We should know that there is nothing good in our flesh (our nature), than to want to please ourselves. No one can live in the flesh and continue to please God. In his battle with the flesh, Apostle Paul said, ” For I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh. For I want to do the good, but I cannot do it.” (Romans 7 : 18). Beloved, our fight against the flesh (our sinful nature) can only be won by our faith in Jesus Christ. We do not have what it takes to win the fight, only God has. Our weapon for this fight is faith in Jesus Christ. The Bible says’ ” For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.” (1 John 5 : 4). It was the same faith that delivered Apostle Paul from the frustration of overcoming the flesh as recorded above. Hence he added, ” Wretched man that I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.” (Romans 7 : 24 , 25). Beloved, do you now realised that the time when it will be impossible to please God is when you live and act without faith? So determine to grow your faith and you will not cease to please God. Remember, without faith it is impossible to please God. (See Hebrews 11 : 6).
