Verse Of The Day: Will you not revive us again: that your people may rejoice in you? Psalms 85 : 6

LISTEN: True revival brings joy, because it is a time to breath spiritual fresh air. What is revival? Revival refers to a spiritual reawakening from a state of dormancy or stagnation in the life of a believer. It is time when a love for God, an appreciation of God’s holiness, a passion for His Word and His church, a convicting awareness of personal and corporate sin, a spirit of humility, and a desire for repentance and growth in righteousness resurfaced in a believer’s life. Revival gives life and energy and sometimes deepens a believer’s faith, opening his or her eyes to the truth in a fresh, new way. Revival brings about a fresh start with a clean slate, marking a new beginning of a life lived in obedience to God. Revival breaks the charm and power of the world, which blinds the eyes of men, and generates both the will and power to live in the world but not of the world. Today, the state of spiritual reawakening has been neglected. Beloved, can we ever have revival as of old? Oh!How pleasant it is to read or hear about the great works of God in the world occasioned by revival. But so sad to know that the desire and hunger for revival has today ceased in the hearts of men. Even in churches of Christ today, many people still struggle to feel the presence of God when God is ever willing to pour out His Spirit.

Spiritual coldness, barrenness and insensitivity has taken over people’s lives. Many are more concerned about material possessions; as self-centeredness has replaced ‘God-centeredness’. No more hunger and desire for prayer and rugged evangelism and soul winning. Everyone seems exhausted and less concerned with God’s Kingdom agenda. Our churches today are filled with people who are not ashamed of spiritual barrenness. People who attends church service just for what they can achieve. People whose prayers are self-centered – God give me money, give me a spouse, give me a visa, give me a car, give me a job, give me a house, give me children, etc. They forgot that doing the will of God is key to receiving our desires. (Matthew 6 : 33 ; James 4 : 3). Oh! Where are the good old days of revival? Those days when John Knox would pray, “Lord, Give me Scotland or I die.” When St Patrick, a rugged believer that brought even dead animals and trees back to life would pray, “God, give me souls or give me nothing else.” A time when men were heard to have prayed, “Lord, If you will not use us, please, kill us.” A time when brethren from England in the Azusa Street revival would gather everyday under the terrible cold, to pray saying “Lord, give us men that will spread Your Fire in the streets of England.” A time when the Indonesia spiritually hungry hearts were seen praying day and night saying, “Lord, The harvest is ripe… If it pleases You, please use us.” A time like the days of William Seymour, when brethren gathered and prayed thus: “Lord, this is another day that hell must lose men and women. Please, we are here. Use us”. Brethren, are we really praying for revival? Are we ready to be used by God at this time in our generation? Let us like Apostle Paul say, “Woe is me if I preach not the gospel”. (1 Corinthians 9 : 16). May we not fail God in this generation. God bless you.

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Pray and hunger for revival in the church and your community.
2. Pray for sinners to be saved in your community and all over the world.
3. Determine to not remain in a state of spiritual dormancy and stagnation.
4. Begin to live your life in humility and obedience to God.

Daily Task: Always pray for revival, because revival will give life and energy and sometimes deepen your faith, and open your eyes to the truth of God’s word in a fresh, new way.

Daily Reflection: Everyone seems less concerned and exhausted with God’s Kingdom agenda; as churches are filled with people who are not ashamed of spiritual barrenness, coldness and insensitivity; who attends church just for self-satisfaction and not for Kingdom purpose.

Daily Prayer: Almighty God, I acknowledge that we have lost the fire of revival, I pray for it again. Let revival fire fall in my life, family, the church, community and the world at large, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Daily Prophetic Declaration: Today, I decree over your life, this is a season of revival for you. I command the spirit of spiritual barrenness, coldness and insensitivity to leave your life right now, in Jesus’ name.

Daily Quote: Until there is a desire and hunger for revival, spiritually dead people will remain dead.
