Author: Bishop Julius Okarike

Verse Of The Day: Wake up! Wake up! Clothe yourself with strength, O Zion! Put on your beautiful clothes, O Jerusalem, holy city! For uncircumcised and unclean pagans will no longer invade you. Shake off the dirt! Get up, captive Jerusalem! Take off the iron chains around your neck, O captive daughter Zion! For this is what the LORD says: “You were sold for nothing, and you will not be redeemed for money.” Isaiah 52 : 1 – 3

LISTEN: No one walks successfully to the future unless he or she is prepared for it. The future is for those who in spite of challenges, obstacles, oppositions and all manner of troubles are determined to overcome and excel (Job 19 : 25). God gave several wake up calls to the children of Israel in their miseries and hopeless states. Yesterday we read from our verse of the day a statement of encouragement and persuasion to Israel – to ‘arise and shine’ through the power and glory of God upon them. However, this wake up call is not just for them alone, but for us too. Beloved, time has come for you to pick up the pieces of your life and move on expectantly into the future. The children of Israel suffered series of invasion and captivity by their enemies because of their own sins and disobedience to God. But the moment they repented and asked for mercy God delivered them for free. God did not spoke deliverance into existence, rather He asked the Israelites to wake up and combat their enemies with His (God’s) unfailingly powers.

Our verse of the day says, “Wake up! For this is what the LORD says: “You were sold for nothing, and you will not be redeemed for money.” (Isaiah 52 : 1 – 3). Beloved, never allow circumstances and challenges of life to shut you up, rather wake up. You may have been humiliated, messed up and mistreated; as a result, you have given up on life and taken it as your fate. Wake up! For it is not yet over. Do not close your mouth in shame, instead equip yourself with God’s strength and glory. Do not be depressed because of enemies’ oppression, rather be strong. Cheer up! Because God will destroy every power that has come to frustrate and destroy you. Hear His word to you today, ” For this is what the LORD says: “You were sold for nothing, and you will not be redeemed for money.” Beloved, it will cost God nothing to deliver you from your troubles. So arise and be strong for the Lord is with you.
