Verse Of The Day: In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how we should pray, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings. Romans 8 : 26
LISTEN: We followers of Jesus Christ who have received Him as Lord and Saviour, and are baptised in the Holy Spirit and adopted by God into His universal family, He has graciously sealed by His Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth. As children of God, the Holy Spirit is the one who guides and directs our steps to the right path. With Him we are safe and secure if only we can listen to His still small voice. He is a gentle Spirit that must not be resisted. No one who opposes and disobey the Holy Spirit of God can continue to have Him as his or her comforter and director. Disobedience to the Spirit of God is a sure way to losing His fellowship, directions, care and comfort. The Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of truth. In other words, He protects us from errors and falsehood of the world and Satan. Many lives in error and falsehood today because their eyes are blinded to the mysteries of God’s word. Beloved, there can be no spiritual knowledge and understanding without the help of the Holy Spirit. That is why those who are empty of the Spirit of God are equally empty of spiritual understanding (Matthew 22 : 29). The Holy Spirit is our peace in moments of troubles and trials. With Him there can be no loss.
Beyond that He is our intercessor. One who plead our cases, defend and speak in our favour before God, and helps our weaknesses. No doubt, we have our areas of strength, but we equally have our areas of weaknesses. Those areas of weaknesses are areas the Holy Spirit steps in to plead our case. Our areas of weaknesses is not our moments of sickness, but our inability to do the will of God. The greatest weakness of man is his inability to do the will of God. It is at this stage of our lives that the Holy Spirit steps in. Our verse of the day says, ” In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how we should pray, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings.” (Romans 8 : 26). Our prayers are often selfish and self-centered, as a result, it cannot please God or get answers. The bible says, ” You ask and do not receive because you ask wrongly, so you can spend it on your passions.(James 4 : 3). Because of our selfish dispositions, the Spirit of God is the one who prays through us to please God. He is the one that knows the mind of God. Beloved, what trouble are you going through today? Cast all at the feet of Jesus Christ and trust the Spirit of God to lead you out of the mess. Remember, you are helpless, vulnerable and powerless without the Holy Spirit of God.
