Verse Of The Day: You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill cannot be hidden. Matthew 5 :14
LISTEN: Jesus said to His disciples, ” You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill cannot be hidden.” (Matthew 5 :14). We (Christians) are His disciples, and therefore the lights of the world. We are to shine His light to this world of evil and equip people with the knowledge and insight required to understand and follow the will and purpose of God. We are referred to as light because we possess Christ, and in our life and labour we demonstrate Him. (1Thess 5 : 5 , 6 ; John 12 : 36 ; Acts 4 : 13). Indeed, we are the lights of the world. Light is an emblem of purity, it represents knowledge and insights; represents positive action (Gen 1 : 2 ,3); and equally represents unity and benevolence. (1John 2 : 10 ; 1 : 9). The world lies in darkness and is doomed without the light of the gospel of Christ. Truly the world is dark in reference to God; and is equally dead, hence the gospel of Christ is the only way.
Beloved, it is time to run with the vision and commands of Christ – “Go into the world and preach the gospel to all people.” (Matthew 28 : 18 – 20). We should not neglect this global mandate of the church. Besides, we should live Christ kind of life to the world. They (the world) should see Christ living His life through us. Because of the prevalence of evil in the world today, you may ask, “Is it possible to shine the light of Christ in a world consumed by darkness? Can anyone profess genuine faith in Christ when many Christians who were perceived or known as committed and dedicated Christians are already quiting their faith because of challenges and iniquities in the world today? Is it possible to live for Christ in a sinful world? Beloved, it is possible. So, do not look at anyone, instead, be strong and determine to reach out to the world.
