Verse Of The Day: Jesus said to him, “Stand up! Pick up your mat and walk.” Immediately the man was healed, and he picked up his mat and started walking… John 5 : 8 , 9

LISTEN: God’s mercy, that is, His grace is the only hope of the rejected, abandoned, downcast, hopeless and defenseless. His mercy can speak for you where human help have failed to come. His mercy speaks when our weaknesses seem to have no solution. The story is told in the bible of a certain cripple who was laid by the pool of Bethesda. He suffered from paralysis for 38yrs and hoped to obtain solution from the healing water at the pool but to no avail; because each time he made attempt to walk into the water when the water is stirred up for healing, another person enters before he could come close. He had repeated this process for a long period of time, and have wasted meaningful part of his life bedridden. However, on the day Jesus Christ visited the scene, his life was turned around. When he thought that his hope of recovery was gone, Christ gave him hope and reasons to celebrate. Jesus Christ said to him “Stand up! Pick up your mat and walk.” Immediately the man was healed, and he picked up his mat and started walking…” (John 5 : 8 , 9). In the same way, I speak to anyone reading this devotional, may you found uncommon favour this season in Jesus’ name.

Beloved, God wants to show you mercy just the same way he showed this man at the pool of Bethesda. Another name for Bethesda is house of mercy. This man was in the right place at the right time. Though his miracle and healing were delayed, yet grace eventually found him. God wants to show you mercy, He wants to set you free from satanic power, intimidation and oppression. Therefore, do not give up on life. No matter your years of disappointments and miseries God will help you. God’s help abounds where no one wants to help you. When He decides to intervene, natural laws and protocols are broken. All you need is obedience to Him. The solution to your problem is hidden in your obedience to His word. No matter your situation, God is able to help you. You might be a great sufferer, a disappointed seeker, and a friendless outcast like this crippled man; not to worry! Relax, for God is in control.
