Verse Of The Day: Then Joshua said to the children of Israel, Why are you so slow to go in and take up your heritage in the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you? Joshua 18 : 3

LISTEN: “Delay is dangerous”, they say! But undue delay is more dangerous. There is time for everything. Therefore, it is our responsibility to know what time we are in, and what we ought to do like the sons of Issachar, men who had understanding of the time. The Bible says, ” And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment. (1 Chronicle 12 : 32). Most of us seem not to know what should be done at a particular time. Like the children of Israel who were comfortable in the wilderness even when their destination was the land of Canaan. They failed to understand that, why God delivered them from bondage in Egypt was for them to go and serve Him and possess their possessions, even the land of Canaan. The Bible says, ” And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows. And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.” (Exodus 3 : 8).

God delivered them just to honour His covenant of promise with Abraham. Having brought them out of bondage, He expected them to move on and possess their God-given possessions. However, they refused to take a bold step of faith. Because of their slackness to rise up and possess their God-given possessions, the bible says, “Then Joshua said to the children of Israel, Why are you so slow to go in and take up your heritage in the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you?” (Joshua 18 : 3). Beloved, this is the same mistake a lot of people make today. That is, the mistake of slackness and procrastination. They believe it is not yet time to do what they should do. They linger endlessly in fulfilling their God-given purpose. My dear, do not forget that it is your responsibility to possess what God has already given to you. A man once said, “God cannot give to you in miracle, what He has given to you in principle.” You should know that it is not God’s responsibility to do for you what He has enabled you to do for yourself. God is with you, so, if you choose not to move on to possess your God-given possession because of fear and intimidation, it is all your fault. So, do not expect God to do everything for you. Do the ones you can and trust Him to do the ones you cannot. Beloved, are there things He is prompting you to do? Do not continue to procrastinate. Remember, time waits for no one. Go for it, because time is running out.
