Verse Of The Day : Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me. Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men. For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD. They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me…Psalms 59 : 1-4

LISTEN : God is the mouth of those who cannot speak for themselves. He is the voice of the voiceless. He is the defender of the defenseless, Father to the fatherless; comforter to the brokenhearted, and Deliverer of the oppressed. He is the hope of the abandoned and rejected. No matter what happens, He will surely arise to defend those who trust in Him. Those who cry out to Him, He will certainly deliver from their enemies. No doubt, there are many wicked people, oppressors, tyrants, life destroyers and the likes around us today, but they are no match for our God who created the heavens and the earth. Truly, there is no oppressor too strong for God to handle, no tyrant is too powerful for Him to tame, no wicked man is too wicked that He cannot destroy if He so desires; no prison is too fortified that He cannot break and let Satan’s prisoners go free. God is a great God and does great things for His people. Therefore, we must learn to seek His help at all times.

In our verse of the day, when David was in trouble and facing diverse dangers he said, “Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me. Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men. For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD. They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me…” (Psalms 59 : 1-4). Obviously, David recognised that there were enemies all around him, both known and unknown; he equally acknowledged that God is the only reliable source and the unmatchable force that could deliver him from his powerful enemies. Because David knew that there were many that were against him, therefore he cried out to God for help. Beloved, you do not have to be an enemy to make enemies; enemies are just there. They hate you for no cause and will want to attack you because they do not want to see you. Your existence frustrates them. Your presence and life in general are threats to them, hence will want you out of the way. Not to worry! Just sincerely call on God for help and He will certainly deliver you from their hands. Make Him the Saviour and Lord of your life, and He will make your enemies His enemies. Remember, God is the defender of the defenseless.
