Verse Of The Day: God is greatly to be feared among the saints, and to be honoured over all those who are about him. Psalms 89 : 7

LISTEN: Until God is revered in our midst and hearts we cannot serve Him faithfully. The fear of God in our hearts will guide our actions towards Him. Beloved, do you serve and fear God? Do you really have respect for who He is? Truly, God is to be worshipped with awe and fear. We should not pretend our service, fear and honour to Him. Our fear for Him is what demonstrates our loyalty to Him. Genuine fear for God is a sign of true wisdom. The Bible says, “The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom…”( Proverbs 9 : 10). Obviously, no one is truly wise who does not fear the LORD. The first test or lesson of true wisdom is to fear God – that is, to revere, honour and fearfully respect Him as our God. Beloved, you should learn to place God as the first in your life. You should give Him first place in your life and serve Him faithfully. The Bible says, ” Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.” (Psalms 2 : 11)

As a wise person, God should be your first choice in life. He should be more important to you than your businesses, career, academics, marriage etc. Besides, He should be more important to you than your friends and family members. Nothing should take His place in your life, for He is greater than everything in life put together. When you make a decision, you must first think about Him. Whatever you do, God should be the center of it all because He can only honour those who honour Him. But those who despise Him will be lightly esteemed (1 Samuel 2 : 30). Beloved, God should be accorded the service that is due Him. He should be given the respect that is due Him. This is the first and greatest lesson of every man. This lesson of the fear of God will teach us to be wise. If we respect God, then evil will not excite us. If we have respect for Him, we will be fair and honest when dealing with others. If we have sincere respect for God, we will live in line with His will. Therefore, let us fear Him because we must all stand before His judgment-seat to give account of ourselves. So let us live in line with His will, as we remember that He deserves our honour and worship.
