Verse Of The Day: As newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the Word, that you may grow thereby to salvation,
1 Peter 2:2

LISTEN: The word of God? Do we need it? Yes we do! We cannot grow to please God when we refuse to feed on His word. His word is the source of real life and should be desperately desired by anyone who wants to live in His purpose. God’s word gives life and causes us to grow; that is, have a progressive development; increase in size and shape in every area of our lives. Beloved, when you refuse to feed on God’s word you will certainly stop to grow spiritually; and when growth ceases to happen, life begins to be miserable and boring. Imagine having a child born to your family some twenty years ago, and till now, he or she cannot sit, crawl or walk, how will you feel? Truly, you will feel disappointed, heartbroken and pained because the child has turned to a source of pain, instead of joy to you. In the same way, when you fail to grow spiritually as a child of God, you disappoint both God and yourself.

Beloved, God wants us to grow in Him, and that must be through making use of his word. The word of God is the food meant for our spiritual life. What food is to the flesh (body), God’s word is to our spirits. Our bodies feed on physical food. Hence, when we feed, we grow and live; but when we starve, we hurt and die. In the same way, our spirits will either feed on God’s word, grow and live forever; or reject it, suffer and be destroyed forever. Your spiritual life needs God’s word to function well. The bible says, ” But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”(Matthew 4 : 4). Beloved, as much as you need your daily food, you need your spiritual food, the word of God. Without His word, spiritual growth is practically impossible. That is why the bible says, “…Desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.” (1 Peter 2:2). As a child of God or whoever you are, you need God’s word to grow and live. Read the bible and listen to his voice daily to discover His will, and you will grow and live forever.
