Verse of the Day: Sanctify them by your truth; your word is truth John 17:17.

LISTEN: Everyone of us was born with the sinful nature that tends to keep us away from God. (Psalms 51 : 5). Our sinful nature cannot allow us to fully dedicate ourselves to God Almighty. However, the washing of the sinful nature by the Word of God can guarantee the cleansing that we required to connect to God and be separated and consecrated to Him. Christ Jesus is the Word of God and the ultimate truth. He is our light and guide to the future. Without His atoning blood, no one can come to God. Hours preceding his final days on earth, Jesus Christ prayed to His Father to sanctify his disciples with the Truth – the Word of God. To sanctify is to render pure, or to cleanse from sins, (1Th 5:23; 1Co 6:11). Christ wants us to be sanctified and become more like Him and less attached to the world; He wants us to get the control over evil thoughts, passions, and impure desires; and be weaned from earthly objects, and attached to those things which are unseen and eternal. Beloved, we should be consecrated, and set apart to a holy office or purpose of the Kingdom of God.

Beloved, do you not desire to be sanctified? When Jesus Christ prayed for God to sanctify His disciples, He desired that His disciples might be made personally more holy, and might be truly consecrated to God as the ministers of His religion. As children of God and ministers of the gospel, we can only be devoted to the service of God just in proportion as we are personally pure. Our faith in Christ cannot operate or be valid without sanctification (Heb 12:14). God’s word in our lives will separate us from sin and other things that defile. His word will provoke Christian dedication and consecration (Acts 2:41, 42, 46); will bring freedom and give life (John 8:32 ; John 5:24; Heb. 4:12). Besides, the word of God is our weapon against sin and evil, and our weapon in trials and temptations (Psalms 119 : 11 ; Matt. 4:4). Beloved, let us surrender ourselves to God and be sanctified by the word of truth.
