Verse Of The Day: So I say to you, Take no thought for your life, about food or drink, or about clothing for your body. Is not life more than food, and the body more than its clothing? Matthew 6 : 25

LISTEN: Worry is not safe for anyone because it kills joy and destroys life. When you choose to crown ‘worry a king’ in your life, be sure that misery will come to support his reign of anguish in your life too. No doubt, life is full of situations that could trigger worry. But, no matter how we worry, nothing will change. But should we worry like hopeless people? Of course not! What exactly is worry? Worry is to think about problems or fears: it is to feel or show fear and concern because you think that something bad has happened or could happen. Sadly, worry never solved any problem, instead, it has always compounded and worsened situations. (Proverbs 15 : 13 ; 17 : 22). Truly, we tend to worry ourselves over things we cannot control. We worry because we sense danger, or feel helpless over the situation. We worry ourselves virtually about everything, because things seem to be out of control. No matter the reasons for our worries, we should listen to the words of Christ and deliver our souls from the torments of worry.

Jesus Christ said to his disciples, ” Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than its clothing?” (Matthew 6 : 25). At the time Christ was addressing His audience (his disciples), they were still struggling with various needs that seemed to have no solution; as a result, he commanded them not to worry themselves about anything. Truly, like everyone of us, they were in need of food, clothing, etc. But Jesus asked them not to worry about these things because God cares. So what then should they do? Watch helplessly until solutions come? Of course not! they were to trust in God, do the things they can and leave the rest to God. Besides, they were to acknowledge that God cannot fail to meet their needs; so should pray for His directions and stop worrying about their needs. Beloved, worry is useless and stupid. It is unnecessary, unhelpful and unreasonable. (Matthew 6 : 27 – 30). Besides, worry is destructive, frustrating and a demonstration of lack of faith in God. Instead of worrying about your needs, pray and seek for help and certainly you will find help if you refuse to quit. (Phi 4 : 6 , 19).

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Rather than worry and waste your time, spend it on prayer and seek divine assistance.
2. Say no to worry and yes to faith. No matter what, just believe that it will be alright.
3. Whenever you are facing any need, remember that God knows and cares about you.
4. Always remind yourself that worry is unhelpful, unreasonable, unnecessary and destructive.

Daily Task: If worries torment your life, remind yourself that God is in control and will not abandon you to the will of the devil.

Daily Reflection: There is no sense in worrying. Hence, time spent on worry is a wasted time and effort; and the love of worry is the beginning of tragedy.

Daily Prayer: Compassionate Father, my protector and provider, help me in my times of needs. May I not worry but put my hope in you, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Daily Prophetic Declaration: You will make a difference. Today, I prophesy over your life, may God break the power of worry in your life and give you peace of mind, in Jesus’ name.

Daily Quote: He who chooses to crown ‘worry’ a king in his life, must be prepared to welcome misery and their reign of pain and sorrow.
