Verse Of The Day: Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. But you, O LORD, are a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. Psalms 3 : 2- 3
LISTEN: God is a shield and help to those who trust in Him. (Psalms 33 : 20 ; 84 : 11). He is to them a reliable refuge in time of trouble. His presence is too tough and threatening for the enemy or enemies to withstand. (James 2 : 19). His power is unmatchable, hence, victory is certain in any situation for His people if their faith is not compromised. Beloved, have you made God your shield and help? What does it mean to make God your shield and help? It means to believe and trust Him as the one that protects or defends you: it means to have Him as your defender. On the other hand, to make Him your help means, to trust and acknowledge Him as the one who gives assistance or support to you in time of need and trouble: it means to trust and acknowledge Him as the one that makes it easier for you to deal with your problems, challenges and other issues of life.
In our verse of the day, David in the midst of his troubles trusted God and acknowledged Him as his shield and help. He believes that, no matter what, God will arise to deliver him. David was attacked on every side, both from within and without. However, he disregarded the wishes and expectations of his enemies over his life, and trusted God instead and said, ” Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. But you, O LORD, are a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about. (Psalms 3 : 1 – 6 UKJV). Beloved, like David, you are not alone. Therefore, put your hope in God. When your enemies have concluded that their is no deliverance for you, God will deliver you to their own shame.
