Verse Of The Day: And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things. Genesis 24 : 1

LISTEN: Obedience to God is vital to experiencing His blessing. God’s seed of ‘the blessing’ is hidden in faithfulness, dedication and commitment to Him. When God decides to bless a person, He does that based on the person’s dedication to Him. (Proverbs 28 : 20). God’s seed of blessing cannot survive in the soil of disobedience, unfaithfulness, disloyalty, and the likes. Besides, His blessings are not designed to be enjoyed by just one generation alone, but by all generations of the upright. The blessing of God on the righteous does not die with him, but extends to his children and upcoming descendants. When God called Abraham, He promised to bless both him and his descendants. He however asked him to do certain things that were difficult. He asked him to leave his own land, kindred, and his father’s house. Besides, He (God) delayed his childbirth and when He finally gave him Isaac, He demanded that Isaac be offered to Him as sacrifice. Because Abraham believes in God, he did not argue or oppose to Him, instead, he obeyed God and was blessed in return.

Our verse of the day says, ” And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things.” (Genesis 24 : 1) God blessed Abraham with long life, children, wealth and the good things of life. Like everyone else, Abraham was worried when he had no child, but believed the promise of God for a child. Even when all hope was lost by reason of old age, he went on believing the promise of God. When he had fully obeyed God, God blessed him as promised. The Bible recorded that God blessed him in all things. Besides, when he died, the seed of the blessing was transferred to his son Isaac. The Bible says, ” And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahairoi.”
(Genesis 25 : 11). Beloved, what is your relationship with God? Do you know that God wants to bless you and yours? How faithful and obedient are you to Him? Determine today to serve Him faithfully and He will bless you and your descendants beyond measure.
