Verse Of The Day: Let my prayer come before you: incline your ear unto my cry; For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draws nigh unto the grave. Psalms 88 : 2 , 3
LISTEN: Are you in pain or troubled? Are you worrying instead of praying about it? A man once said, “If there is a man to pray, there is a God to answer.” Beloved, God cannot be wicked or unrighteous not to care about His hurting and troubled children. He is not insensitive to the predicaments of His obedient children; for He is a loving, generous, caring and compassionate Father. His goodness and mercies knows no bounds; and having Him on our side is worthwhile. Truly, God is good to all, especially to the obedient who patiently and persistently call on Him. Most times we murmur and complain against Him for not looking our side in times of trouble; rather than complain and murmur against Him we should pray to Him in faith for help. In our verse of the day, David in his affliction prayed fervently to God and overcame all through prayer and faith in God. He never ceased to pray and wait on the Lord, nor did he failed to trust in Him at all times. In our verse of the day he said, ” Let my prayer come before you: incline your ear unto my cry; For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draws nigh unto the grave.” (Psalms 88 : 2 , 3).
David cried out to God when he was in trouble and greatly afflicted, he begged the LORD to consider his cry for mercy. In his prayer, he told the LORD the degree of his afflictions and stated categorically that it was life threatening; he said, “ my life draws nigh unto the grave”(Psalms 88 : 3a). David in this prayer was saying something like, oh LORD! If you do not come to save me now I will certainly perish. Considering all the troubles and afflictions that he was facing, there were evidences that he was not going to survive it, however, he prayed and believed God for deliverance and He eventually delivered him. In Psalms 62 : 7 , 8, David having seen the salvation of the LORD encouraged others to put their trust in God no matter what. He said, “In God is my salvation, and my glory; the Rock of my strength, and my safe place. Have faith in him at all times, you people; let your hearts go flowing out before him: God is our safe place.” Beloved, like David, let us put our faith in God, pray to Him, and believe Him to fix our problems and deliver us from every affliction.
