Verse Of The Day: Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law does he meditate day and night. Psalms 1 : 1 , 2

LISTEN: Do you know that God’s blessing does not come where godliness is undermined? The blessings of God travels in the direction of the godly. Then, who is the godly? The godly is one who has great reverence for God; one with a religious character; pious; and devoted: one who is deeply concerned with God and the beliefs and practice of religion. Beloved, God wants you to be godly, because he desires to bless you. Godliness will attract the favour of God. God’s blessing travels in the direction of godliness; just like every good parent will not hesitate to bless his or her obedient child, and an employer his obedient and hardworking employees; so also is God eager to bless the godly. Beloved, are you godly? Are you truly godly as a child of God? To be a godly person, you must first consider the biblical definition of the word godly. In 1 Timothy 2:2, Paul uses the word in conjunction with being “peaceful,” “quiet,” and “dignified.” The Bible stated categorically that, the Spirit, who is in every believer, produces visible and invisible acts of godliness, “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness” (See Galatians 5:22).

Biblically, godliness is defined as “Christlikeness.” Godliness involves a genuine striving to imitate Christ, to be like Him in thought and action as Apostle apostle was. (See 1 Corinthians 11:1). God wants us to be godly and to represent Him in a world overwhelmed with ungodliness and all manner of wickedness. Beloved, godliness is not a title, or an award given to a long serving christian, but a state of conscious effort to live in the fear and knowledge of God. In our text of the day, the bible stated clearly what the godly does and things he or she does not do – the godly does not consider ungodly counsel, advice, or suggestions from the wicked as an option. He rejects vehemently every counsel that will not glorify God no matter who gives it. The godly does not partner with the wicked in evil no matter what he or she stand to gain or lose. The delight of the godly is in doing the will of God, meditating on His word, and living his or her life totally to the will of God. Beloved, may we be godly and live to glorify God at all times.
