Verse Of The Day: The one who stiffens his neck after numerous rebukes will suddenly be destroyed without remedy. Proverbs 29 : 1
LISTEN: Hardening one’s heart against God is dangerous and self-destructive. It is the way to eternal destruction and death. When our heart is hardened against God, destruction has been made inevitable. (Proverbs 29 : 1). God does not want anyone to be destroyed, rather, He wants all to be saved. However, the choice to be saved lies with us individually. God has shown us how to live. Therefore, if we live outside His will, it is because we chose to do it. The Bible says, ” Will the LORD accept a thousand rams, or ten thousand streams of olive oil? Should I give him my firstborn child as payment for my rebellion, my offspring – my own flesh and blood – for my sin? He has told you, O man, what is good, and what the LORD really wants from you: He wants you to promote justice, to be faithful, and to live obediently before your God.” (Micah 6 : 7 -8).
Beloved, God is grieved and provoked to anger when you harden your heart against Him. (1 Samuel 2 : 25 ; Ezekiel 18 ; 4). He wants us to be opened to His words – instructions, warnings, encouragement, etc. In His message to the Israelites through Prophet Micah, God commanded them to promote justice in the land, be faithful to Him, and live obediently to Him in all respect. He expressed His disinterest in their various sacrifices to appease Him at the expense of justice, faithfulness and obedience to Him. Beloved, in the eyes of God, no amount of sacrifice can take the place of justice, faithfulness and obedience to Him. Friend, do you attach value on justice? Are you working to promote justice in the land – your community, state, country and the world at large? Besides, are you faithful and obedient to God? Truly, if we all choose to obey and honour God, the world will not be a terrible place to live. The world has been turned into a battle field and terrible place to be because people have rejected the ways of God. However, if we can individually repent and turn to Him for mercy and transformation, the world will be safe for all to live.
