Verse Of The Day: Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say, rejoice! Philippians 4 : 4

LISTEN: Jesus Christ is the reason for the believers’ joy. We should not rejoice because of our fame, or the wealth we have amassed in the world, but because of who we are in Christ. (Luke 10 : 20). To rejoice is to feel or show that you are very happy about something. It is to feel joy or great delight. In this case, the reason why we should be happy is because we belong to God through Jesus Christ. We should not be sad for any reason, instead, be joyful and lively. Beloved, Joy is hard to sustain without a solid relationship with God. The world is full of evil and wickedness, as a result, people’s hearts are often broken and torn apart by circumstances of life. (Job 14 : 1 ; James 4 : 14). Most people pretend to be happy when they are not just to impress others. They make people believe that all is well with them; but when they are alone, they weep, groan and murmur endlessly because of their predicament. Truly, until our eyes and hearts are fixed on God, our problems will continue to have our attention.

Beloved, it is high time you made God the object of your joy. If your joy or reason for happiness is not about God, be sure to have your heart broken someday when your object of joy disappears or is tampered with. The believer’s joy is beyond material and financial possessions. Truly, all those (earthly possessions) come and go with their challenges. They do not have eternal value. Hence, if you anchor your hope on them, be prepared for sadness and pain because they will certainly fail you. Jesus Christ says, ” I have said all these things to you so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble: but take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16 : 33). Yes! No matter what we think we have, the world cannot give us joy. Our material and financial possessions cannot give sustainable joy, only Jesus Christ can. That is why Apostle Paul urged the Philippians, and us by extension to rejoice in the Lord always. That is, no matter what happens, our joy should not be interrupted. We should be happy both in good and bad times because our God is in charge.
