Verse Of The Day: Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and that God’s Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, which you are. 1 corinthians 3 : 16 , 17
LISTEN: Each time you look at yourself what do you see? What picture of yourself do you imagine in your mind? If you are asked to describe yourself, what will you say about yourself? I believe most people will say they are nothing, citing how miserable and shattered their lives are. While others who are enjoying some fortune will address themselves and want others to address them by their possessions and achievements. In contrast, our verse of the day declares who we really are. The Bible says, ” Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and that God’s Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, which you are. (1 corinthians 3 : 16 , 17). Wow! You are a temple of the living God. This simply means that we are created to be carriers of the glory of God. Because we are created in His image, we are designed to house His glory in the earth. Anyone who sees you should see the glory of God.
Sadly, the reverse is the case. A lot of people have sold themselves to the devil. They are not in any way useful to God who created them. Their allegiance is to the devil not to God. They honour, fear, obey, worship, adore, and glorify the devil at the expense of God. With their actions, they provoke Him to jealousy and wrath; thereby pushing Him to destroy them. Beloved, your body (you as a person and your life) belongs to God. You are bought by a price, even the blood of Jesus Christ. The Bible says, ” Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price. Therefore, glorify God with your body.” (1 Corinthians 6 : 19 , 20). Beloved, you are not your own, you belongs to God and should glory Him with your body. Therefore, to use your body for sin is to defile the temple of God that should be kept holy. Those who defile God’s temple (their bodies) shall have their own lives destroyed. Besides, those who feel too big to honour God with their lives, will have it too tough to receive His mercy.
