verse Of The Day: And he that steals a man, and sells him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death. Exodus 21:16

LISTEN: Lack of fear of God has made the world what it is today. The fear of God is fast disappearing, as a result, no one wants to respect and obey divine injunctions. With the trend and mindset of ‘get rich quick’, many have chosen the way of death as a means of livelihood. They have engaged in crime against God and humanity, even kidnapping. Kidnapping is to take away someone by force usually in order to keep the person as a prisoner and demand money for his or her return. So sad, kidnapping has become a way of life in today’s societies and the world at large. It has been turned into a source of livelihood for some criminally-minded people. They have amassed wealth for themselves with their ill-gotten money, build mansions, live in luxury, attain enviable positions, etc. They are interested in what they can gain at the expense of the lives and comfort of others. The love of money has turned our world into a nightmare and hell. Many people today live in fear for their lives because of the level of insecurity occasioned by evil people.

However, God is not ignorant of everyone’s sin. He said, “But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. There is no peace, says my God, to the wicked.” (Isaiah 57 : 20 , 21). Wickedness cannot produce good in the long run. Pain, misery and tragedy awaits the worker of iniquity. No matter how smart they might be, the eyes of God will fish them out. (Psalms 139 : 7 – 12). When others are hurt, afflicted and put under undue pressure just to enrich ourselves, the so-called wealth or success achieved will be the source of our misery and shame eventually. (Proverbs 20 : 17 ; 9 : 17 , 18). Beloved, the consequences of kidnapping are huge. Death and pain are hidden in it. Whether we are directly responsible for any kidnap, or aiding it, a sinner will not go unpunished. (Proverbs 11 : 21). So, let us repent and come to God today and He will be merciful to us.
