Verse Of The Day: Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?  (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knows that all of you have need of all these things. But seek all of you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6 : 31 – 33

LISTEN: Love for self and the world have taken the place of God in people’s hearts today. There is little or no love for God in the hearts of men. (2Timothy 3 : 2 , 4). We tend to pursue temporal pleasure instead of eternal values, purposes and satisfaction. We worry about what to eat, drink and wear, instead of how to please God. We pursue earthly pleasures at the expense of our eternal destiny. Besides, we occupy our minds with thoughts that could ruin our body, soul and spirit, instead of life-changing, soul-lifting and eternally-minded thoughts. Beloved, “First thing first.” God wants us to put Him at the center of our lives. Self and the cares of this life should not occupy our minds that we fail to acknowledge His own place (the first) in our lives. These self and world – centered thoughts cannot offer solutions to human problems but rather compound them.

Jesus Christ having seen these lifestyles of anxiety, worry and the fear of survival amongst his disciples, warned them against such and enjoined them to trust God instead. He told them that it was unreasonable to worry when they should trust God (Matthew 6 : 27). Beloved, Jesus Christ is saying the same thing to us today. It is unbelieving to worry instead of trusting the almighty God. No matter what, God’s purpose must come first in our lives. When we allow Him have the first place in our lives He will give us our needs in due season. His interest in our lives is to do His will. Beloved, He wants you to establish His rule in your family, marriage, business, career, ministry, school, relationship, etc. Furthermore, He promises thus: ” And all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6 :33). My dear, do you want God’s hand in your life? Follow His will and His blessing will follow.
