Verse Of The Day: Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4 : 7

LISTEN: The devil will flee when you continue to resist him. He is just appearing ‘strong’ because you have not resisted him. However, it is not possible to resist the devil until you have fully submitted to God. Truly, the devil cannot fear, or respect anyone until he sees that such a person has God’s support. The way to have God’s support is to submit to Him. That is, to readily obey and follow His will. The bible tells us that the flesh constantly fights against the spirit, as the spirit fights against the flesh. (Galatians 5 : 17). It is the fight for dominance between the flesh and the spirit over our lives. But we can choose who wins this fight, the flesh, or the spirit. That is, we can surrender to the flesh, or to the Holy Spirit of God. Whom we choose to surrender to will dominate our passion, affections and appetites. Besides, if we choose the flesh over the Spirit, we will be attracted to the things of the world, but if we choose the Spirit over the flesh (carnal nature), we will be attracted to the things that pleases God. (Colosians 3 : 2 – 4).

Beloved, between God and the devil, where does your loyalty lies? Who do you accept and who do you resist? Do you know that it is easier to follow the will of the devil or your own will, than it is to follow the will of God? This is because the sinful nature in man finds it difficult to live in line with the will of God.(Romans 8 : 7). But when we make the decision to submit ourselves to God and resist the devil, he will have no choice than to flee our Holy Spirit- controlled lives. Beloved, because we belong to God, we are not designed to fail, rather we are destined to overcome. Therefore, let us examine our lives thoroughly, if there are still places in our lives we are resisting God. Rather than resist Him, let us determine to resist the devil instead. Henceforth, let us submit ourselves to God; and resist the devil, certainly he will flee from us.
