Verse Of The Day: And he saith unto them follow me and I will make you fishers of men Matt. 4:19
LISTEN: True disciples of Jesus Christ cannot wait to be pushed or begged to spread the gospel of the Kingdom. They do it passionately because they know that it is a divine assignment. Jesus Christ wants us to get involved in the spread of the gospel and to save men from ignorance and the wrath of God. Not too long he (Jesus Christ) ended his forty days fast in the wilderness that he began his earthly ministry. His first encounter was with two brothers at the sea of Galilee, Simon called Peter and Andrew his brother as they were doing their normal fishing business on the sea, for they were fishermen. The moment Jesus saw them he said to them, “follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” (v.19). He was not just calling them to change their business, but to train them in winning souls for the kingdom of God. Subsequently, he transformed them into useful instruments for the kingdom. He made their relevance to transcend to eternity. He made them soul winners; not just soul winners, but purposeful and desperate soul winners who understood that the time was too short and sinners must be saved.
Beloved, since you became a follower of Christ, have you won a soul to him? If not, what are you waiting for? Remember that every believer is called to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ; and your business should be to win souls into the kingdom of God. Do you know what it means to follow Christ? It means to follow him as your teacher and Saviour, to take him as your example; take him as your friend and to take and believe him as your rewarder. Beloved, always remember that your labour in Christ can never be in vain (Heb. 6:10). So be serious in your service to God. Preach the gospel to your family members, work colleagues, friends, community, etc. Do not allow trials and tribulations to keep you from following Christ and saving souls for him. Just press on, for God will unfailingly reward you.
