Verse Of The Day: But when Jesus heard what they said, he told the synagogue leader, “Stop being afraid! Just keep on believing.” Mark 5:36

LISTEN: Though temptation and tribulation may come knocking at your door, do not waver in your faith. Do not surrender to fear and worry. Instead, surrender to God. The Bible has an account of a man in our verse of the day who demonstrated the spirit of faith. He was a leader of the synagogue of the Jews by the name of Jairus. He came to Jesus Christ to ask for healing for his sick daughter who was dying. Jesus having accepted to go to his house with him, was however delayed by the woman with the issue of blood, who just received her healing by her rugged faith. (Mark 5:25-34). As he (Jesus) was addressing the case of the woman with the issue of blood, messengers from Jairus’s house came to inform him of the death of his daughter some few hours before (Mark 5:35). The Bible recorded thus: ” While he was still speaking, some people came from the synagogue leader’s home and said, “Your daughter is dead. Why bother the Teacher anymore?” Beloved, just few persons can withstand this sort of heartbreaking news.

It was a faith weakening and destroying news. Notice that Jairus came to Jesus Christ by faith; but now, it is obvious and natural that his faith will instantly be punctured or shakened. When Jesus heard their message, he confronted it immediately and said to Jairus, “Stop being afraid! Just keep on believing.” (Mark 5:36). Jairus obeyed Him and was not disappointed. His daughter was eventually restored to life. Beloved, does your situation seem hopeless like that of Jairus? Are you disturbed by some life threatening situations in your life? Are you down with a disease and it seems you are going to lose your life? Do not worry yourself! Just stop being afraid but keep on believing. Surely, your miracle is on the way if only you can stand firm in your faith and not waver. Remember, there is nothing impossible with God. (Jeremiah 32 : 27).
