Verse Of The Day: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of His calling, and what is the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints Ephesians 1 : 18
LISTEN: Most of us (christians) do not recognize the inheritance we have in Christ Jesus. We are grossly ignorant of our enormous wealth in Christ. It hurts to see that those who should rejoice for the privilege of being children of God are comfortable with intimidation and deceit from the devil. It is too sad that until now, a host of believers do not recognize the hope of our calling: the purpose we are called and the inheritance that awaits us. In our verse of the day the bible says, ” the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of His calling, and what is the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints” (Ephesians 1 : 18). Conversely, by our personal choices, we have regrettably lost sight of our purpose as believers in Christ. We are bereft of spiritual understanding to access the mind of God. Beloved, God wants us to be wise and full of understanding.
Apostle Paul’s prayer in our verse of the day for the Ephesians was for God to open their minds (understanding). So that they will understand what God has chosen to give to them. Besides, that they may know the good things that He has caused them to hope for certainly. By so doing, they will know what very rich and great things He has prepared for His people. Beloved, this message is not just for the Ephesians but for believers in Christ of all generations. It is a message of hope for us and as many as God will call through the gospel we preach. We should recognize what we have in Christ and rejoice as we patiently wait for our time of revelation. As we faithfully serve and worship God here on earth, our rewards await us over there. Therefore, let us open our hearts to the purpose why God called us, as we keep our eyes on our ultimate reward – eternal life, which God has reserved for His faithful children. (see 1 John 5 : 11 – 20).
