Verse Of The Day: Bear one another’s burdens, and so you will fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks himself to be something, being nothing, he deceives himself. Galatians 6 : 2 – 3
LISTEN: Genuine worshippers of God are eager to avoid self-deception. They consider others as much as they consider themselves. To consider means, to think about something or someone carefully, especially in order to make a choice or decision. In line with our verse of the day, the choice and decision to make here is to share in the burdens of others and not deceive ourselves by thinking that we are better off than them. Arrogant people do not care how others hurt or feel, but the humble do. The humble feels the pain of others while the arrogant imputes the miseries of others to their weakness, evil, laziness, etc. However, as children of God, we are enjoined to bear the burdens of others. That is, to have sympathy; feel for each other; and consider the case of a distressed brother and sister as our own.
When we shy away from this responsibility we have failed God and in turn denied our christian faith. The law of Christ is centered on love. Our service and worship to Him will be empty if it is bankrupt of love. The Bible book of 1 Corinthians 13 : 1 – 3 puts it thus: ” If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but I do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so that I can remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give away everything I own, and if I give over my body in order to boast, but do not have love, I receive no benefit.” Beloved, can you see that? The law is fulfilled when we help to ease the burdens of others. But when we refused and think of ourselves better than others we deceive ourselves, because we have proven to be nothing. Beloved, always remember that the beauty of life in buried in love. Rather than mock and castigate others for their miseries, look for ways to help and the Lord will bless you.
