Verse Of The Day: Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no food; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. Habakkuk 3 : 17 , 18
LISTEN: Beloved, do you express gratitude for favour received, or yet to be received? Do you ever express gratitude both in good and bad times? As beneficiaries of God’s goodness, we should show unreserved appreciation to Him. No matter the condition we find ourselves we should be grateful; that is, we should feel or show thanks to God for His helpful act towards us. We should be appreciative of benefits received in all areas of our lives. Most times we may not feel like giving thanks because of troubles and challenges, yet, we should give thanks all the same. Gratitude to God should not be a choice, but a – must – do in our everyday life. We should thank Him when we are full and when we are empty; we should thank God when we are happy and when we are heartbroken, we should thank Him at all times.
In our verse of the day, Prophet Habakkuk confessed his unwavering resolve to rejoice in the Lord and trust Him even when nothing seems to be working in his life. In spite of his predicament, he chose to be happy knowing that God his deliverer is not asleep. Beloved, gratitude will develop your faith when times are tough. If you choose to go with a grateful heart in tough times, you cannot end up with a broken heart. Therefore, no matter the situation, do not be ungrateful to God. Truly, gratitude in tough time is the ultimate test of your faith (see Job 2 : 9 – 10). God watches what we do both in good and bad times. We must not allow mourning for what is lost to stop our thanksgiving for what is left (see Job 1 : 14 – 22). My dear, do not engage in counting your losses anymore, instead, begin to count your blessings and it will surprise you what the Lord has done. Beloved, God loves you, and His love for you is enough to trigger a heart of gratitude. Think about it!
