Verse Of The Day: And David was greatly distressed; for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God. 1 Samuel 30 : 6

LISTEN: A host of people have lost the battles of life because they chose to fight Alone. They chose to disregard and undermined God; as a result, were defeated and destroyed. Generally speaking, we tend to be hopeless and downcast when pressures continue to build up in our lives. We lose confidence when our life and peace of mind are threatened. However, if we can find solace and strength in God we cannot be defeated. David is an ample example of this kind of situation when his life was threatened by fellow soldiers at the time the Amalekites invaded Ziglag, burnt it with fire and took away their family members. But in spite of their threats, David encouraged himself in God and recovered all eventually. This means that anyone can be distressed, but not everyone can remain distressed. Beloved, at some point or the other in life you may be distressed, threatened or discouraged, but you must choose to grow your faith to terminate your heartbreak. (See 1 Samuel 30 :6 – 19 ; Psalms 56 : 3).

As children of God we have been empowered to overcome discouragement, frustration, human threats and the forces of darkness by our authority and faith in Christ. When others are downcast, depressed, frustrated, discouraged and heartbroken we should be full of strength and faith. The Bible says, ” When men are cast down, then you shall say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.” (Job 22 : 29). Beloved, learn to encourage yourself in God no matter what. No matter the condition, do not lose hope. Refuse to complain or count your losses, instead, engage the situation by your faith in God. Do not give up, rather, believe that with God you can overcome all obstacles to your breakthrough. (Mark 9 : 23). So, keep pressing on and continue to seek the face of God for directions and insights (Pro 16 : 3 , 9 ; Psalms 37 : 5); certainly, you will be restored and refreshed by the mighty power of God.
