Verse Of The Day: The next day John sees Jesus coming unto him, and says, Behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the sin of the world. John 1 : 29

LISTEN: After John’s message of repentance from sin, and answers to the priests and levites who were sent to him the previous day from Jerusalem to find out if he was the christ; he saw Jesus Christ practically coming to him the next day and therefore, exclaimed, “Behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1 : 29). John by the help of the Spirit of God recognised Jesus Christ as one sent from God to deliver the world from the darkness and disease of sin. John’s words to his audience were, “BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD:” What does that mean? Firstly, it means that Jesus Christ is God’s choicest sacrifice for sin (Hebrews 10 : 1 – 7). The blood of animals could not give redemption to mankind, only the blood of Jesus Christ could. Secondly, it means that Jesus Christ is the final sacrifice for sin (Hebrews 10 : 11, 12, 14). There is no sacrifice other than the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Thirdly, Jesus Christ as the lamb of God means that he is God’s means of humans redemption (John 1 : 29 ; Acts 4 : 12). Beloved, there is no salvation in any other but in Jesus Christ alone. He must be received and acknowledged as one sent by God to deliver us through his own life. And fourthly, by his position as the lamb of God, you have the choice to be saved or be consumed by accepting or rejecting his sacrificial death. (John 3 : 16 ; John 1 : 11 , 12). You will be saved when you receive him as your Lord and Saviour; but consumed when you reject and despise him. The choice is yours. There are dangers in rejecting Jesus Christ. When you reject him, you will certainly face God’s judgment (Hebrews 10 : 26 – 29); be eternally separated from God and face eternal punishment (2Thess 1 : 8 – 9 )., and regret in sorrow forever (Matthew 13 : 41 – 43).
