Verse Of The Day: For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. Hosea 6:6

LISTEN: Beloved, do you know that the ways of God are not our ways? And His desires are contrary to our fleshly desires? Do you think that God is more interested in our sacrifices (gifts) than He is in the purity of our hearts? Do you think that He could be moved by our expensive offerings, when our lives are bankrupt of His purpose? Of course not! (1 Samuel 15 : 22 – 23). Truly, we should worship God with our gifts, but our heart is more important to Him than our gifts. Our gifts to God without our hearts will amount to rejection, self-deception, a waste of time and resources. God cannot accept a gift from a giver whose heart is disconnected from His or her gifts. God wants us to do everything good with our hearts. When we serve, we should serve with our hearts. When we worship, we should worship with our hearts. When we give, we should give with our hearts too. Whatever we do will certainly fail the test of God if they are not done with the whole of our hearts (Deuteronomy 28 : 47 , 48). Beloved, God is not man who could be easily influenced and bought over by a gift. His standard is different from man’s. His demand from us is simple – to serve Him faithfully and be blessed in return(Psalms 119 : 2).

Our verse of the day says, ” For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.” (Hosea 6:6). God’s expectations of us here are centered on two things: firstly, mercy – a kind or forgiving treatment of someone who could be treated harshly: kindness or help given to people who are in a very bad or desperate situation. God wants us to be kind and forgiving. When we fail in this regard we have failed Him. Secondly, He wants us to know Him. If we know Him we will obey and honour Him, but if we do not know Him we will disobey and opposed to Him. Beloved, if your life is characterised by unforgiveness and lack of the knowledge of God, you are completely ruined (Hosea 4 : 6). However, you have a chance to return to God today. Accept His word and determine to serve Him with your resources and the whole of your heart.

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Always be kind and forgiving to others no matter what.
2. When you give to God, know that He cannot be influenced by it, but by the purity of your heart.
3. Accept the word of God and serve Him with your resources and the whole of your heart.
4. Whatever you do for God, first give Him your heart before you give Him your gifts.

Daily Prayer: Almighty God, I bless your name for a day like this, help me to serve you with both my heart and resources for all your goodness towards me, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Daily Task: Beloved, God wants us to know Him. If we know Him we will obey and honour Him, but if we do not know Him we will disobey and opposed to His will to our own harm.

Daily Reflection: Whatever we do will certainly fail the test of God if they are not done with the whole of our hearts and to the glory of His name.

Daily Quote: Our sacrifices to God without faithfulness to Him will amount to self-deception, a waste of time and resources.

SAY THIS: Today, I confess with my mouth, that I will love, honour and obey God with my whole heart. I therefore renounce all acts of disobedience and rebellion, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Daily Prophetic Declaration: You will make a difference. Today, I prophesy to you, may God give you a kind and forgiving heart. May He accept your offerings and give you His blessings, in Jesus’ name.
