Verse Of The Day: Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice. Ephesians 4 : 31
LISTEN: In yesterday’s devotional, we were told from the bible to put on the life of Christ Jesus which is expressed by love, compassion, forgiveness, kindness, righteousness, purity, holiness and the likes. However, before we can put on the life of Christ, we must first put off the life of sin, empowered by Satan. When sin is mentioned, we quickly think of murder, adultery, stealing, fornication, robbery, and the likes as real sin. But in our verse of the day, we understood that, even those little wrongs we do not regard as sin are equally sin. Sin is dangerous and harmful no matter how small. Having repented of our known sins, the scripture also warns us to get rid of bitterness, which is, being angry and unhappy because of unfair treatment. (Psalms 64 : 3 ; Romans 3 : 14 -18 ; Col 3 : 8 , 19). Anger, which is, having a feeling that makes you want to hurt other people (Eccles 7 : 9 ; Pro 14 : 17 ; Ephesians 4 : 26); and wrath, which is, having extreme anger.
Besides, we are also to get rid of Quarreling, which is, to argue and to have verbal conflict with someone who opposes you; and slander, which is, to make a false spoken statement that causes people to have a bad opinion of someone. (Leviticus 19 : 16 ; Psalms 140 : 11 ; 1 Timothy 5 : 13). Beloved, for the fact that you have received Jesus Christ, you are now a new person. You are expected to live in line with the will of God. Henceforth, you are to be kind and compassionate. That is, you are to be sympathetic or helpful in nature. Besides, we are to forgive one another. That is, we should allow room for people’s errors and weaknesses. We should bury our old sinful way of life and assume the new life in Christ. No matter what, determine to put off the life of sin, and put on the life of Christ. Friend, perhaps you are not yet born again, this is an opportunity for you to give your life to Jesus Christ. Accept Him today and be saved.
