Author: Bishop Julius Okarike

Verse Of The Day: Jesus spoke again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 8 : 12

LISTEN: “Life has no meaning in darkness; the true meaning and sweetness of life can be found in the light.” Light represents insight, spiritual direction, revelation, vision, truth, wisdom, understanding, knowledge, discernment, enlightenment, and the likes. Light directs people which path to take to their desired destinations. It is difficult to miss the way when you walk in the light. Jesus Christ (the word of God) is the true light that came from heaven to enlighten our minds to follow the will of God. (Psalms 119 : 105). With him in our lives, the darkness of sin and sorrow will lose their potency and relevance. But those who choose to walk without Jesus Christ have chosen the path of darkness. They will continue to walk in the errors of their ways because, there is no source that can truly enlighten or illuminate anyone on the earth outside Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” (John 9 : 5). Jesus is still around today in the person of the Holy Spirit. (John 14 : 26).

Beloved, whom have you chosen to follow? Jesus Christ, or the devil? Our verse of the day says” Jesus spoke again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8 : 12) Jesus Christ made this statement to his audience immediately the accusers of the woman said to have been caught in adultery left her, and Jesus freed her and asked her to go and sin no more. He saved the woman from untimely and gruesome death by opening the eyes of her accusers to their own sins (John 8 : 7 – 9). When people live in darkness, they will walk in errors, swim in sin, enjoy wickedness, and walk without fear of God. Beloved, until we follow Jesus Christ – the way, truth and life, our lives will be overshadowed by the forces of darkness. Henceforth, let us embrace Jesus Christ the light of the world and be saved.
