Verse Of The Day: Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. Psalms 103 : 1 – 2

LISTEN: Today is the last day of the year, 2017. Beloved, have you reflected on everything that happened from January till date? Have you appreciated God for His goodness? Perhaps, you have looked at your family? Marriage? Business and job? Your Town, city, or Country? And all you could see, remember, or recognise are your pain, tragedies, rejection, sorrow, hardship, frustration, loss of job, death in the family, weeping and wailing, etc? Are you just counting your losses instead of your blessings? Do you think you have more pain and heartbreak than you have peace and joy? Do you think that what you went through since January does not deserve a thank you to God? Beloved, there is something you are forgetting, no matter what you are going through, there is still something left for you – your life. If there is life there is hope. You are not down and out, God is working out something for you behind the scenes.

Therefore, we should learn to thank Him even when we cannot understand what He is doing, or what is happening to us. If we can thank God no matter what, He can vindicate and bless us no matter what. In our verse of the day, the Psalmist (David) has a long list of reasons for his gratitude to God. Firstly, he determined to not forget all the benefits he received from God. (Psalms 103 : 1- 2). He proceeded to mention the benefits he received from God which includes, forgiveness of sin, bodily healing, deliverance of all sorts, mercies and kindness; provision, strength, and the likes. (Psalms 103 : 3 – 9). Beloved, David who appreciated God in this manner was not without troubles and challenges. He faced countless troubles, yet ascribed glory to God for his victory over all. Beloved, stop counting your losses and begin to count those your ‘little blessings.’ I assure you that God will make a way for you where there seems to be no way. So, ignore your pain and celebrate your gain for the year, even your life. With your life intact, next year can be better and fruitful.
