THE DEVIL IS OUT TO DECEIVE AND DESTROY

Author: Bishop Julius Okarike

Verse Of The Day: Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” Matthew 4 : 8 – 9

LISTEN: Beloved, do you know that Satan is out to deceive and destroy people? (1 Peter 5 : 8). Do you also know that his ‘traps’ are in every place waiting to catch those who chose to be reckless with their lives? Satan deceives and destroys those who are ignorant of his evil plans. He is too subtle in nature and can influence men in such a way that they are not even aware that they are being influenced toward evil. He is moving round the world and deceiving people from different nations of the world. Obviously, he is in charge of this wicked world. Jesus Christ called him the prince of this world (John 14:30). All over the world, he affects people’s attitudes by moving their reasoning processes toward self-satisfaction. He turns people away from following the will of God, to following his own will. Besides, he gives false information and stirs up our spirit towards evil.

Through subtlety he (Satan) demanded that Jesus Christ bow down and worship him to receive the good things of the kingdoms of the earth. However, Jesus Christ refused his unreasonable demand and maintained that God alone should be worshipped. No matter what, God should come first in our lives. Beloved, it is not evil to take care of yourself, the evil is in making the satisfaction of yourself more important than God’s purpose for your life. We are commanded to serve God above all else. Besides, we do not have the right to make, or think of ourselves greater, or important than God or other human beings. (Romans 12 : 3). Such attitude is satanic. So, let us be careful because Satan can move us to the point that self-satisfaction will become more important to us than conforming to what God says is the limit of our authority. Beloved, the devil is out to deceive and destroy, Beware!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Learn to live in full obedience to God and not in unreasonable self-satisfaction.
2. Do not make your selfish interest greater or more important than righteousness or truth.
3. Determine to obey and serve God with the whole of your heart no matter what.
4. Be wise and beware of Satan’s schemes in the world and determine to resist him.

Daily Prayer: Dear Lord! You are so good, loving and kind to me. Protect me from evil plans and manipulations of the devil; and help me to always do your will in all situations, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Daily Task: Beloved, no matter how exalted your position is, do not forget that we do not have the right or power to make, or think of ourselves greater, or more important than God or our fellow men.

Daily Reflection: Guard against Satan’s subtlety, for he is too subtle in nature that he can influence you in such a way that you are not aware that you are being influenced toward evil.

Daily Quote: Satan does not announce his plans to deceive people, but the ‘vigilant’ and godly will notice and resist him anytime he show up.

Today In History: January 22, 1979 Abu Hassan, the alleged planner of the 1972 Munich raid, is killed by a bomb in Beirut.

Say This: Today, I confess that I am not ignorant of Satan’s schemes. Therefore, I receive power to resist and overcome him as he comes, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Daily Prophetic Declaration: You will make a difference. Today I prophesy over your life, may God protect you from negative influences of the devil; and may he help you to always do His will in all situations, in Jesus’ name.
