MAKE GOD YOUR STRENGTH AND HOPE

Verse Of The Day: O our God, will you not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that comes against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon you. 2 Chronicles 20 : 12

LISTEN: Beloved, who is your strength? Self or God? Where do you anchor your hope? Is it on your wealth? Political strength? Academic achievements? Physical or mystical abilities? Etc. Beloved, we all are empty, powerless and vulnerable without the help of God. No matter how strong and powerful you might seem, no single person has what it takes to overcome all oppositions or battles in life. Surely, some will be difficult, tougher and stronger to deal with. (Psalms 142 : 6). God is the only solution in such situation. In our bible verse of the day, King Jehoshaphat knew that the enemy forces facing him and his own people were far more powerful than his small army. As he reviewed his options, he also realised there was no human scheme or strategy that could save them. Rather than foolhardily moving forward to battle, he admitted to his own people, and to God, his weakness and led them together in this prayer to God for help.

Beloved, how often do you realise your weaknesses and need for God? Are you too confident of yourself that you no longer recognise your need for divine help? Do you know that without God your strength (whether military, financial, academic, etc) will fail you? King Jehoshaphat and his people prayed and confessed thus to God: ” We do not have the strength to face this challenge on our own. Neither do we know what to do.” My dear, like Jehoshaphat and his people, have you come to this point in your life and struggle? Have you given up trying to fix your life and problems by your own strength or wisdom? Have you expended your limits and have reached your wit’s end? Is your hope gone? Not to worry! This is the time to say to God, “My eyes are on you, now.” (Psalms 43 : 1 ; 2 King 6 : 15 – 17). Then ask Him what He wants you to do, and where He wants you to be. When your strength is gone and you put your weight on God’s, you will discover His unfailing strength and wisdom to help in times of need.

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Do not rely just on your own strength and wisdom, rather rely on God’s.
2. Always pray to God when you are threatened by opposition and trust Him to deliver you.
3. When you have come to a wit’s end in your life, trust God for a miracle.
4. Acknowledge your weaknesses and need for God and He will make you to succeed.

Today In History: January 24, AD 41 Shortly after declaring himself a god, Caligula is assassinated by two Praetorian tribunes.

Say This: Today, I confess that I am powerless, empty and vulnerable without God. Therefore, I make Him my strength and hope. No matter the strength of my enemies, I cannot be defeated because God is my strength and hope, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Daily Prophetic Declaration: You will make a difference. Today I prophesy to you, may you acknowledge the limitations of your strength. As you depend on God, may He fill you with His own strength and help you to overcome the forces of hell, in Jesus’ name.
