Verse Of The Day: For “physical exercise has some value, but godliness is valuable in every way. It holds promise for the present life and for the life to come.” 1 Timothy 4: 8

LISTEN: Having a regular physical exercise routine that you follow can benefit in some ways. We all know that exercise helps us to strengthen our muscles, burn off fats, build up our heart, and keep us in good shape and form. This is why it is said in the scripture that it has some value. However, its value cannot compare the value of exercising for godliness. (1 Timothy 4 : 8 ; Mark 8 : 36 Malachi 3 : 14 – 18). Many of us have regular exercise routine that we follow, but do not have a regular faith routine that can provoke us to godliness. Godliness simply means, to live in a godly way; in a way that pleases God. What physical exercise is to our body, is what faith routine is to our spiritual life. The benefits of strengthening our faith are much greater than anything else, because the effects are eternal. Exercising for godliness helps shape our characters, keep us from bad habits and evil practices which are harmful to our health and wellbeing.

Godliness is the only guarantee for divine protection in a wicked world. (Psalms 91 : 14 – 16). Many have destroyed their health and ruin their lives through reckless living. At that point, even physical exercise cannot save them, only a relationship with God through His son Jesus Christ can. Beloved, the benefits of godliness is for this life and the life to come. This means that godliness will guide you to live wisely here on earth. It will help you to stay away from sin and its consequences, honour, worship and revere God; and prepare for eternity. Beloved, only exercising yourself in godliness can guarantee a future with God. My dear, are you really exercising your faith? Do you read your bible anymore? Do you pray and fellowship with other believers? Do you read religious books and meditate on God’s word to build your faith? Beloved, no matter what, make sure you train for godliness and prepare for eternity. Be wise!
