THE LORD NEEDS IT

Verse Of The Day: Now when he approached Bethphage and Bethany, at the place called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of the disciples, telling them, “Go to the village ahead of you. When you enter it, you will find a colt tied there that has never been ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ just say, ‘The Lord needs it.’” So those who were sent ahead found it exactly as he had told them. As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, “Why are you untying that colt?” They replied, “The Lord needs it.” Then they brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt, and had Jesus get on it. Luke 19 : 29 – 35

LISTEN: I am sure by now you might be wondering what the LORD will be needing from you, right? Beloved, everyone of us has what the Lord wants us to give. In our verse of the day, Jesus Christ was about to travel to Jerusalem, and He asked two of His disciples to go to the village ahead of them and fetch Him a donkey with which He could travel by. He gave a specific instruction, ” If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ just say, ‘The Lord needs it.” (Luke 19 : 31). Beloved, notice that the donkey does not belong to Jesus, but He needs it, because He is the master of the universe. The creator with the Father, and everything belongs to Him. We are just caretakers of what we claim to own; the real owner is God. Truly, those who know God cannot refuse His requests. That is why when Jesus’ disciples came and were untying the donkey, the owners asked them, “Why are you untying that colt?” They replied, “The Lord needs it.” (vv. 33 , 34). Immediately, they were permitted to take it to the Master.

Beloved, what is God asking you to do for His Kingdom today? What is He prompting you to do to speed up His Kingdom assignments and visions on earth? Do you know that God wants us to support and fund His visions and dreams from our own means. Are you responding with utmost urgency and willingness like the donkey owners of our verse of the day? Or still dragging your feet to obey? Friends, until God takes the best of what we own, we have failed His purpose for our lives; but divine favour awaits those who honour God with what they have. Notice that when they brought the donkey to Jesus, the honour accorded to Him was accorded to the donkey too. The Bible says, ” And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.” (Luke 19 : 36). The donkey walked on people’s clothing as a mark of honour and royalty. As you obey and support God’s agenda, honour and favour will be your portion, in Jesus’ name, amen.
