Verse Of The Day : Other seeds fell among the thorns, and they grew up and choked them. Matthew 13 : 7

LISTEN : God’s desire for every follower of Jesus Christ is to be fruitful and useful to Him in pursuing His kingdom plans on earth. However, unless we are fully committed to God we cannot do exploit for Him. When we serve God with a divided attention we cannot fulfill His purpose for our lives. His purpose for us is to be fruitful: to win the world over to Jesus through the gospel of the kingdom, and to please Him in all things. But if the word of God heard is allowed to be hindered by other interests, surely, it will be difficult to produce results that will please God. The parable in our verse of the day talks about another category of hearers represented by seeds that fell among the thorns, and they grew up, but was choked by the thorns. Jesus explains it thus : “The seed sown among thorns is the person who hears the word, but worldly cares and the seductiveness of wealth choke the word, so it produces nothing”. (Matthew 13 : 22).

Beloved, God’s word is active and alive and should produce great results. It should be able to change your life into the person God wants. The Bible says,” This is how my Father is glorified, when you produce a lot of fruit and so prove to be my disciples” . (John 15 : 7). God is honoured when we are doing much that pleases Him. But when we allow the problems of this life, the deceitfulness of riches and other worldly cares to occupy our hearts, certainly God’s word will not bear fruit in us. God and His word must have first place in our hearts, without that, mundane affairs will bury the desire to please God. Beloved, where does your interests lie? Are you for God, or for self and the world? Watch your desires lest the word of God you have heard or hearing becomes useless. Be wise!
