Verse Of The Day : And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we. Numbers 13 : 30 , 31
LISTEN : At the end of the forty days expedition to the land of Canaan, the twelve spies selected from the twelve tribes of Israel returned to Moses and the people of Israel with two different reports. The majority (ten spies) came back with evil report of the land, while the minority (two spies) gave a good report and exercised faith in their God. Joshua and Caleb were on one side, and the ten spies on the other side. What a wide margin, (ten against two)! The report given by the ten spies broke the heart of the congregation of Israel. When Caleb stilled and tried to convince them that God is on their side and victory is guaranteed ; they ignored him and wept all night in unbelief. (Numbers 14 : 1 – 3). In the same way, we are living in a society that believes majority is always right. We care about who is on our side and not about God’s opinion. We judge opinions by level of support and popularity it has. We believe it is wrong when it is not the majority.
Beloved, majority is not always right. As a child of God, you must watch the opinions you support. In the sight of God majority does not count, only His opinion does, irrespective of minority. You should be open to the opinions of God at all times. Stop being unnecessarily democratically – minded, and start being theocratically – minded. Let us not be controlled by majority opinion, but by what is right in the sight of God. The children of Israel incured God’s wrath for following the majority over God’s word. Beloved, is your life based on majority opinions? Are you afraid to stand up for Jesus in minority? Are you afraid of losing popularity for following God’s unpopular opinions? Did you know that even majorities can be wrong? Henceforth, determine to follow God’s will, not majority opinions and you will not be dragged into errors. Be wise!
