Verse Of The Day : Even if he slays me, I will hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face! Job 13 : 15

LISTEN : When I imagine the tribulations of Job, I can’t help but ask, who is this Job? (Job 1 : 1 – 22 ; 2 : 1 – 10). How was he able to survive such predicaments? Why was he not broken beyond remedy? How was he able to remain firm in his faith in God, when it is obvious that he found himself in a situation in which no progress seems possible? How was he able to cope with the loss of everything that was dear to his life? Why did he not give up hope and quit his faith? Then I found the answers in our verse of the day. Job said, ” Even if he slays me, I will hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face! (Job 13 : 15). Few things I discovered about Job, (1). His uncompromisable faith : Job was not ready to compromise his faith no matter what. He attached more value to his faith, than anything that life could offer. Wealth or no wealth, family or no family, money or no money, popularity or no popularity, he was determined to stick with God.

(2). His rare commitment : Not too many people can do what Job did. He demonstrated a rare commitment to his relationship with God. In our verse of the day he said, “Even if he slays me, I will hope in him.” The meaning of which is, though God should increase my torments more and more, so that I could bear them no longer, and without all hopes of recovery in this world; yet, I will continue to trust Him. Besides, Job was like saying, I know God is a just, faithful, and merciful God, and he knows that my heart is upright before him, therefore, He will see me through; my troubles will not be my end. (3). His unwavering integrity : People tend to lose integrity when the going gets tough. They become morally corrupt trying to fix or handle things their own ways. However, Job was different. He was really a man of integrity. A man controlled by the fear of God; as a result, he was willing to give up everything to gain God. Thankfully, he gained God and gained everything in return. Beloved, like Job, let us pledge our allegiance to God no matter what.
