Verse Of The Day : And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saves not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give you into our hands. 1 Samuel 17 : 47

LISTEN : Goliath the Philistine from Gath, challenged the army of Israel, not knowing that with such impudence, God was up against him. He trusted his strength in battle, his arsenal and age long victories, as a result, he believes that the Israelites, the people of God will be like one of his victims. Sadly, King Saul and the army of Israel were afraid of him. No one was courageous enough to confront him because he was dreaded by all. However, when David visited the battle field, he could not bear the insult and humiliation that was meted out to his people and his God, as a result, he volunteers to fight the dreaded Goliath and eventually defeated him with just a stone from his sling. The question is, why was he not afraid of Goliath like others? How was he able to defeat him without a sword or a bow and arrow in his hands?

The following are reasons for his victory : 1). He believes in the power of God : (1 Samuel 17 : 33 – 37). David knows that Goliath was in trouble because God was against him for defying his people. Beloved when God is on your side the enemy is already silenced. 2). He knows that weapons does not guarantee victory, but God does : (1 Samuel 17 : 47). People lose battles even with all their weapons, because victory is of the LORD. (Proverbs 21 : 31). But one with God cannot be a prey to the enemy. 3). He was full of faith : faith makes all things possible. Faith never lost a battle, but fear has been the reason for countless defeats. Faith does not fear what others fear but confronts it. 4). He believes victory is possible : Beloved, no one wins until he believes winning is possible. David believes Goliath was defeatable, and therefore killed him without a sword. Beloved, you can overcome if you will look beyond your strength, and seek the strength of God. Be wise!

Verse Of The Day : The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. Psalms 10 : 4

LISTEN : How much do you think about God? How much do you meditate in His words? Besides, how much do you talk about Him to others? Beloved, what you think about God will determine what you will do for Him. What you think about Him will also determine how much you can sacrifice for Him. Your love and reverence for Him are expressions of what you think, or feel about Him. Sadly, the wicked person has no respect for God. His arrogance will not allow him to seek after God, or accommodate Him in his thoughts. The wicked endangers his life when he disobeys God and treats Him with disdain. God’s wrath is upon him, and he will not know peace. The Bible says, ” There is no peace, says the LORD, unto the wicked.” (Isaiah 48 : 22). Beloved, is God in your thoughts? Do you think God does not care about what you do, and will not hold you accountable? Please repent of your evil if there is any, and return to God today ; make peace with Him, I assure you that He will have mercy on you. Be wise!
