Verse Of The Day : Now in fact all who want to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. 2 Timothy 3 : 12
LISTEN : Righteousness attracts persecution. Persecution according to Merriam Webster dictionary is “the condition of being persecuted, harassed, or annoyed.” To be persecuted is to be treated cruelly or unfairly especially because of your race or religious or political beliefs. No doubt, a society dominated by evil poses threats to the righteous and righteousness. Hence, anyone who is not determined will lose courage to travel alone in the “highway of righteousness.”A society that finds joy in evil and ungodliness will always hunt and torment the godly for living contrary to their (world’s) corrupt systems and values. However, those who want to live godly will not give up on striving to please God. Persecution for righteousness must not stop the desire to please God. Where evil reigns, righteousness should reign much more. Beloved, standing up for Jesus Christ is what we are called to do. (1 Peter 2 : 21). We may suffer temporarily for it, but we shall be eternally rewarded for enduring to the end. When you are persecuted for the sake of Jesus Christ and righteousness, give glory to God and stand firm in faith; knowing that we are called to suffer for Him. (2 Timothy 3 : 12 ). Beloved, do not faint when suffering for Christ Jesus; rather, be happy and determined, knowing that, he who endures to the end shall be saved. (Matthew 24 : 13 ).

Thursday, May 24, 2018
Bible Verse : In my heart I store up your words, so I might not sin against you. Psalms 119 : 11

Your actions are dependent on the state of your heart. Hence, if your heart is empty of God’s words, your actions will be dominated by Satan – directed results. This is why we are warned to protect our hearts from satanic invasion. The Bible says, “Guard your heart with all vigilance, for from it are the sources of life.” (Proverbs 4 : 23). Beloved, if you lose control of your heart/mind (thoughts), you have lost control of your life. Guard your heart jealousy with the words of God because your life depends on it. Do not play with God’s words, instead, take it seriously. That is the only way to keep yourself from sinning against God. Our Bible verse this evening tells us how to stay out of sin and disobedience to God. The Psalmist says, “In my heart I store up your words, so I might not sin against you.” (Psalms 119 : 11).
